MCO 2026 Training Camp

Background

The objective of this camp is to train students in C++ programming and algorithmic thinking in preparation for the MCO 2026. MCO 2026 is an algorithmic programming competition that will be the next selection process for the Malaysian national team to the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2026. The MCO will be held tentatively in April 2026.

Eligibility

The training camp this year is open to all, as it is held fully online.

Application

Please register your interest through this form.

Dates

Note: The training camp happens from 12 Dec - 2 Jan. We are experimenting with a new Flipped Classroom format for the camp. We will prepare materials for you to self-learn on the days without Zoom sessions, and please go through them at your own pace. During these self-learning days, the trainers will be actively answering any questions you may have. During the days where we meet on Zoom except 12 December, we will begin with a contest in the morning, followed by an interactive discussion of the problems. Therefore, you are expected to learn the materials before it. The Zoom sessions will be fully dedicated to problem-solving, with the goal of helping you become a better problem solver.

For detailed schedule, please refer to this link.

Venue

Online, Zoom.

Fees

As this camp is fully online, there is no registration fee.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. I cannot attend for multiple days, can I still participate?
    • Yes! The camp is largely self-paced. The problem-solving sessions are for participants to enforce what they have learned themselves using the materials provided. The materials for each problem-solving session will be shared after each day.
  2. Will the sessions be recorded?
    • Only the first introductory session will be recorded. The problem-solving sessions are discussions and not lectures so there’s nothing to record.
  3. Why the focus on C++? Why not Python?
    • The APIO and IOI only guarantees support for C++. As we want to prepare you for the APIO and IOI, we will focus on C++.
  4. Do camp participants go on to the next selection round?
    • No. The camp is not a selection round. Only MCC medallists will be invited to the next selection round. MCC medallists will receive a seperate email to participate in the MCO Qualifiers.
  5. Can I bring a friend along to participate?
    • Yes! The camp is open to all.
