Contests
The selection process for the IOI’n (IOI in year n) consists of the following stages (all times are estimates):
- Malaysian Computing Challenge (MCC)
- Time: October in year n-1
- Who: All Malaysians/long-term Malaysia residents eligible for IOI’n
- Malaysian Computing Olympiad (MCO) Qualifiers
- Time: December-February in year n
- Who: All medallists (bronze or above) in MCC
- Malaysian Computing Olympiad (MCO)
- Time: April in year n
- Who: ~Top 60
- Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO)
- Time: May in year n
- Who: ~Top 30
- Southeast Asia Team Selection Test (SEATST)
- Time: May in year n
- Who: ~Top 30
- International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)
- Time: July-September in year n
- Who: Top 4
Malaysia has sent delegation teams since 2012. View the Malaysian team results.
Selection Criteria
Contestants will be ranked by the sum of their APIO and SEATST scores, with the top 4 selected for the IOI team.
However, in exceptional circumstances, the final selection may deviate from this ranking. MIPS reserves the right of final decision in all selection matters.
