What is USACO?

USACO is the USA Computing Olympiad, used to select the USA team for EGOI and IOI.

We use USACO as a selection phase for the Malaysian Computing Olympiad (MCO).

What are the rules of USACO?

Please refer to the USACO page for rules. USACO is very strict with their rules, so be sure to read them carefully.

If you are disqualified, you are permanently disqualified from USACO. It may also affect your future applications. From the USACO website:

We often follow up on cheating offences by contacting a student’s teachers or school principal; expulsions have resulted from this in the past, so know that consequences of cheating may extend beyond just participation in USACO. If a university or other program inquires about USACO involvement for a competitor who has been subject to disqualification, this information will be passed along.

How do I register for USACO?

You must register for an USACO account on usaco.org. Please register early as a lot of people encounter problems at this stage.

We will also send out an email to register seperately on a form so that we will consider your scores for MCO.

The contest is held on usaco.org. A button will appear on USACO’s homepage that will take you to the contest page, where you can see additional details about the contest and click another button when you are ready to start.

There is no unique link to the contest.

What time does the contest start?

Note: These timings are based on past data and may not be up to date. All times are in Malaysia Time:

For Bronze and Silver divisions: The contest starts at 9PM on Friday, and ends at 8PM on Tuesday.

For Gold and Platinum divisions: The contest starts at 1AM on Sunday, and ends at 8PM on Tuesday.

For more information, see this USACO page.

What do I need to do after every contest?

After the results are released on usaco.org, we will ask for your scores on a form. We will only consider scores submitted on the form. Please fill it promptly.

When will you publish the results?

We will publish the submitted results on our website after verifying all scores with USACO. There may be delays due to the verification process.
